A human-robot sent by NASA in space to detect new planets, "friendly" to humans. The spacecraft passes through galactic wormholes ... and finally arrives on Mars. The news is not - for now - real. Nonetheless, the history of comics, designed by the young from Argos (Greece) and gave the first prize in the international competition of NASA.

Born in Tripoli, where she stayed with her parents and her younger sister up until about four years ago, when the family moved to Meru business in Argos.

Last summer, her mother read on the Internet about the competition conducted by the NASA, Humans in Space - Youth Art Competition. Children who participated had to make a work of art, piece of music or literary text to videos and comics, which would answer the question "How man can explore space, with which technologies and what you find?". Eventually, 2,076 children took place, aged 10-18, from 52 countries, which are considered a total of 220 judges. Angela was the only Greek who took part in the category of comics.

From 7 to 10 April 2013, students and academics from the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Liège, Trier, Athens, Vienna, Tübingen and Naples gathered in Oxford for the Sixth International Roman Law Moot Court Competition – the first time this event has been held outside of Greece. Professor Tony Honoré, formerly Regius Professor of Civil Law in Oxford, graciously opened the event with some remarks connecting Roman law mooting with civil law litigation and instruction in Oxford.

At moots conducted in the St Cross Building (where the Cube particularly impressed the Tübingen delegation) and at All Souls College (where the Old Library impressed everyone), teams presented submissions in relation to an alleged servitude, the applicability of the interdictum de fonte and a damnum iniuria claim arising out of the blocking of an underground watercourse in factual circumstances strongly reminiscent of the plot of Marcel Pagnol’s Jean de Florette. The parties, Iohannes and Ugolinus, also contested contractual claims connected with the loan of a mule and a hypothec granted to secure a loan over the former’s now dried-out farming property.

On the occasion of Francophone Week (March 16-24), the General Delegation for the French language and the languages of France has chosen renowned painter Alekos Fassianos to create the poster for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Nobel Prize winning author Albert Camus’ birth.

Fassianos’ riding horseman is waving the French flag around the globe, eloquently visualizing one of Camus’ famous quotes "Ma Patrie c' est la langue française" (My homeland is the French Language).

Fassianos is far from a stranger to France. Having spent 35 years of his prominent career in Paris and having received the French Order of Arts and Letters medal for his contribution to the Arts, he considers France as his second homeland and is a living example of the eclectic affinities between French and Greek cultures.

Ο Φασιανός των Γάλλων

Πώς είναι να βρίσκεται ένα έργο φιλοτεχνημένο από έλληνα καλλιτέχνη για μία ολόκληρη εβδομάδα σε μερικούς από τους κεντρικότερους δημόσιους χώρους της Γαλλίας; Μάλλον αρκετά τιμητικό για τη χώρα. Αλλά για τους Γάλλους - να εξηγούμεθα -,  που δεν διάλεξαν έναν «δικό τους», αλλά τον Αλέκο Φασιανό. Η γενική διεύθυνση για τη γαλλική γλώσσα και τις γλώσσες  του υπουργείου Πολιτισμού της Γαλλίας ζήτησε από τον καλλιτέχνη να δημιουργήσει μια αφίσα για τον εορτασμό της εκατονταετηρίδας από τη γέννηση του Αλμπέρ Καμύ (1913-2013) επ' ευκαιρία της Εβδομάδας Γαλλικής Γλώσσας και Γαλλοφωνίας. Από τις 16 ως τις 24 Μαρτίου λοιπόν ο ιππέας που διαδίδει τη γαλλική γλώσσα (ο Καμύ είχε πει την επαύριον της απονομής του βραβείου Νομπέλ «Η πατρίδα μου είναι η γαλλική γλώσσα»), με τα μαλλιά του να κυματίζουν στον αέρα, βρέθηκε σε χώρους-σημεία αναφοράς στο Παρίσι και σε άλλες πόλεις της Γαλλίας. Η επιλογή βέβαια δεν ήταν τυχαία. Το γαλλικό υπουργείο Πολιτισμού δεν επέλεξε έναν οποιονδήποτε «ξένο», αλλά κάποιον που μιλάει γαλλικά, έχει ενστερνιστεί τη γαλλική κουλτούρα και διατηρεί στενές σχέσεις με τη χώρα. Και οι άνθρωποί του έδειξαν πάνω απ' όλα εξυπνάδα, ευελιξία - και όχι κοντόφθαλμη και σοβινιστική πολιτική. Ας πάρουμε το παράδειγμα και εμείς.
